Dr hab. Dorota Miler ma wszechstronne wykształcenie prawnicze zdobyte na pięciu uniwersytetach w czterech krajach (Polska, Finlandia, Kanada i Niemcy) oraz bogate doświadczenie badawcze i dydaktyczne. Jej badania koncentrują się na prawie prywatnym, w szczególności prawie spadkowym i rodzinnym, europejskim prawie prywatnym, prawie międzynarodowym prywatnym, historii prawa oraz komparatystyce prawniczej.

Biografia: 

Dr hab. Dorota Miler po ukończeniu z wyróżnieniem studiów prawniczych na Wydziale Prawa i Administracji Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, uzyskała tytuł magistra na prestiżowym McGill University w Montrealu, Kanadzie. Pracę doktorską pt. „Dependants' Relief Legislation and Compulsory Portion. Limitations of Freedom of Testation in British Columbia and Germany in Comparative Perspective” (Mohr Siebeck, 2017) obroniła na Wydziale Prawa Uniwersytetu w Pasawie (Niemcy), a przewód habilitacjny ukończyła na Wydziale Prawa Uniwersytetu w Augsburgu (Niemcy). Jej rozprawa habilitacyjna pt. „Circumvention of Law in Polish Private Law: A Comparative Analysis from Polish, German and European Perspectives” ma się ukazać drukiem w wydawnictwie Mohr Siebeck.

Od września 2013 do września 2024 roku była pracownikiem naukowym na Wydziale Prawa Uniwersytetu w Augsburgu (od 2015 roku w katedrze prof. dr hab. Phillipa Hellwege), a od października 2024 roku jest tam wykładowcą. W październiku 2024 roku podjęła pracę w Katedrze Historii Prawa na Wydziale Prawa i Administracji Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego na stanowisku adiunkta.

Dorota Miler posiada publikacje w trzech językach w prestiżowych czasopismach prawniczych, zarówno krajowych, jak i międzynarodowych (m.in. KPP, RPEiS, JPIL, RabelsZ i ZEuP). Wygłosiła referaty i prelekcje na wielu międzynarodowych konferencjach naukowych, organizowanych m.in. w Instytucie Prawa Porównawczego Maxa Plancka w Hamburgu. Przeprowadziła kompleksowe zajęcia dydaktyczne dotyczące różnych dziedzin prawa prywatnego i publicznego w czterech systemach prawnych (polskim, anglo-amerykańskim, niemieckim i europejskim). Jest członkiem stowarzyszeń prawniczych, m.in. Europejskiego Instytutu Prawa (European Law Institute).
